Reflection

I  enjoyed using the digital story telling.  I would have students use this to share about themselves and a good experience to get to know each other.  It is a great tool to use for projects they are working on and have reasearched.
I was surprised that some of these tools weren't as intimidating as I thought.  I still have to practice using them to feel more comfortable and look forward to seeing how I can intergrate them in a lesson and use them in the classroom.

Tool 11

Digital Citizenship should be clearly established in the classroom, as well as, the computer lab.  We should have a school-wide expectations and rules.  In the classroom the students can be included in the process.  It's a good way to see what they think it is, what it should include, and a way to teach them exactly what it is.  Actually many may not be clear on exactly what all in includes but this is a good opportunity to state what the expectations are from the district, the campus, and in the classroom.

Tool 10

Ok so I'm considering getting an iPhone.  While on vacation my phone charger BROKE!  Couldn't find one anywhere!  Good thing my friend has an iPhone and I was able to use it to call home.  I really don't like the touch screen but may have to get use to it.  I have another friend that keeps trying to get me to purchase one.  I may just have to after this experience.
As far as using the itechnology gadgets this would give students the opportunity to use them in the science labas they conduct experiments and look up information.  It would also be a good resource to use as they reasearch a particular project.  They could have it with them in the library as they work with a partner and find the information they need to present their project.

Tool 9

This tool gives students the opportunity to communicate with students from other countries.  It can be used with students learning a second language.  A wonderful way for students to share about their culture and see first hand what it's like to attend school in another country.  They can also help each other on learning about the other country and working on a project.  They could have interview sessions with their long distance buddy and help each other in the process of learning a second language.  They are able to see each other via Skype and see what their classroom looks like.

Tool 8

Using the videos allows students to see first hand certain things they may be studying or researching.

Tool 7

Using a digital story would be a good way for students to write about their lives and experiences.  It would also be a wonderful way to use in history for a project and include important events that happened during a particular era.

Tool 6

Wiki's would be an excellent way for teams to roadmap for the year.  It can also be used to map out a nine-week lesson plan.  Each member could decide what they will contribute to the planning.  Students could use the wiki when researching a particular topic and then write about their findings and share when they publish their writing.

Tool 5

I enjoy painting and refinishing furniture to make it look old.  This sight has great ideas to use and techniques for painting.

I have a 5 year old Yorkie and this sight offers insightful information on Yorkies.

Using this tool will be an excellent way for students to get information on a hobby or find others with a common interest.

Four

The Google Docs would be great for a writing assignment.  Students would work in a group to edit each others writing.  They can see how their document was edited and they can make changes and use their classmates comments to revise their writing before they publish.  They have the opportunity to work and help each other as they go through the writing process together.  I would also be able to add my comments and make suggestions.
The Google Reader would be a great way to keep up with peoples updates and blogging.

Three

This would be a great activity for students to use to focus on themselves.  They could use Wordle to come up with a list of characterstics about themselves, goals they plan on achieving, experiences they have had, or dreams the look forward.  They would then write about themselves and share with their classmates.

Tool Two

Being able to communicate with other educators via our blogging is a good way to share ideas, support each other, encourage, and get advice on how to approach different situations.  Everyone has their own unique way of teaching and this is a great way to share with others what works for us and what doesn't.  What better way than to ask someone who has gone through something similiar.  It's not only a way to teach each other but a way to listen to each other.  It's a great opportunity to let our students know that we too are learners and look to each other to work together.  They have their classmates and us to learn from and we have our colleagues and students to learn from as well.

Tool 1
